The short version: Tell Me Honey needs no account, no sign-in and no email address. Almost everything you do with Honey stays on your own phone, where we cannot see it. A few features need to reach out to the internet to work — the weather, plant identification, richer conversation, voice cloning — and those are listed plainly below. We don’t sell your information, we don’t run tracking ads, and we don’t build a profile of you.
Who we are
Tell Me Honey (“Honey,” “we,” “us,” or “the app”) is a warm companion app — jokes, conversation, comfort, stories, prayers, lists, and gentle wellness tools — operated by Tell Me Honey LLC. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
No account, no sign-in
You do not create an account to use Tell Me Honey. There is no username, no password and no email address to hand over. Open the app and it works. The free Pint tier needs no purchase and no sign-up of any kind.
If you type a name into the “what should I call you” box, that name is stored on your phone so Honey can use it. See the table below for the one case where it leaves your device.
What stays on your phone
These things are stored on your own device and are never sent to us. We cannot see them, and we could not produce them if we were asked:
- Your chats with Honey, and your saved jokes, verses and phrases
- Your journal entries and any photos you put in them
- Your lists, calendar entries and reminders
- Your goals, streaks, moods, check-ins and honey pot
- Prayers, verses and other recordings you make and keep
- Your settings, themes, chosen name and preferences
Because this lives on your device, it is yours. Clear it any time from inside the app, or by deleting the app. If you delete the app, it is gone — we have no copy to return to you, so use Back up my Honey in Profile first if you want to keep it.
What leaves your phone, and where it goes
Some features cannot work without reaching the internet. Here is every one of them, and exactly what gets sent:

Every one of these is optional. Decline the location prompt, leave AI turned off, don’t record a voice, don’t send a joke — and nothing at all leaves your phone.
Purchases and subscriptions
If you upgrade to a paid tier, your purchase is handled by Apple’s App Store or Google Play through their own in-app purchase systems. We never see your card number or payment details — Apple and Google handle those under their own privacy policies. We receive only confirmation of what you’re subscribed to, so the app can unlock your features. To cancel, use Manage my subscription in Profile, or your device’s own subscription settings.
Steps and sleep (Apple Health / Health Connect)
If you’d like Honey to talk with you about how you’re doing, the app can ask permission to read two things — your step count and your sleep — from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android.
- Honey reads these only after you grant permission, and only those two. She cannot read your heart rate, weight, blood pressure or anything else, and she cannot write anything back.
- This information is used on your device to answer you. It is never sent to our servers and never stored by us.
- We do not use it for advertising or marketing, we do not build a profile from it, and we never sell it.
- Turn the permission off any time in your device’s Health settings, and Honey stops seeing it.
Notifications, camera, microphone and calendar
Every permission the app asks for is optional and is requested only when you use the feature that needs it:
- Microphone — for talking to Honey instead of typing, and for recording your own prayers or jokes
- Camera and photos — for the photo studio, journal entries and plant identification
- Calendar — only when you tap “Add” on a reminder, to write it to your calendar. Honey does not read your existing events.
- Notifications — one gentle daily hello, off unless you turn it on
- Location — for the weather and the seasonal plant list
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not show ads of any kind.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or tracking SDKs.
- We do not build advertising profiles about you.
- We do not use your health, wellness or conversation data for advertising.
- We do not run analytics on how you use the app.
Who this app is for
Tell Me Honey is made for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us something, please contact us and we will remove it.
Your choices
Clear your on-device data any time from inside the app, or by deleting it. Turn health permissions on or off in your device’s Health settings. To ask us to remove a picture you sent through the Funny Funnel, see Deleting your data or email us — we’ll take care of it within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new “last updated” date. Meaningful changes will be reflected in the app.
